Shut Up & Work (shutup.work and the Shut Up & Work apps). Last updated: 24 October 2026.

1. Who you are dealing with

Shut Up & Work is provided and sold by First Basketball, SIA, registration number 40203717722, a company registered in Latvia, Lielirbes iela 15-132, Riga, LV-1046, Latvia ("we", "us"). Contact: now@shutup.work. By creating an account or buying a subscription you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

2. What Shut Up & Work does

Shut Up & Work helps you pick one thing to do, gives you a short first step written with the help of AI, runs a timer while you do it, and helps you come back if you miss a day. AI suggestions can be wrong or unsuitable; you decide what to do with them.

Shut Up & Work is a general productivity tool. It is not a medical, psychological or other professional service and does not diagnose or treat any condition.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old. You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for what happens in it.

4. Free first step

You can try one guided start for free. The free tool has usage limits to keep it fair and affordable, and we may change or pause it at any time.

5. Subscriptions

  • Monthly: US$7.99 per month.
  • Yearly: US$39.99 per year, with a 7-day free trial. The free trial is only offered on the Yearly plan, once per person.

Prices may be shown in your local currency in the App Store or Google Play. Prices on the web include any VAT or sales tax that applies where you live.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price until you cancel. A free trial turns into a paid Yearly subscription when it ends unless you cancel before then; App Store and Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial or period ends. If we change the price we will tell you in advance, and the new price applies from your next renewal.

6. Billing, cancellation and refunds

Where you subscribe decides who bills you and how you cancel:

  • App Store (iPhone, iPad, Mac): Apple bills you under its terms. Cancel in your Apple account's Subscriptions settings. Refund requests go to Apple, under Apple's rules.
  • Google Play (Android): Google bills you under its terms. Cancel in Google Play's Subscriptions. Refund requests go to Google, under Google Play's rules, although you may also ask us.
  • Web: we bill you through Stripe. Cancel any time in the Stripe billing portal linked from the app, or by writing to now@shutup.work.

When you cancel, your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and then stops. Apart from the right of withdrawal below and any rights you have by law, payments are not refunded for partly used periods.

7. Right of withdrawal (consumers in the EU/EEA, web purchases)

If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA and buy a subscription from us on the web, you can withdraw from the contract within 14 days of the day it is concluded (the day you start the subscription or free trial), without giving a reason. To withdraw, send us a clear statement, for example by email to now@shutup.work; you can use the model text below, but you do not have to. It is enough to send it before the 14 days end.

At checkout you ask us to start the service straight away, during the 14 days. If you then withdraw within the 14 days, you pay only for the part of the service you received up to the day you told us: we refund what you paid minus an amount in proportion to that part. If you withdraw during the free trial, you pay nothing. We refund within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal, using the payment method you used.

Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are handled by Apple or Google under their own terms, including any right of withdrawal; ask them for a refund.

Model withdrawal text: "To First Basketball, SIA, now@shutup.work: I hereby withdraw from my contract for the Shut Up & Work subscription. Ordered on [date]. Name: [name]. Account email: [email]. Date: [date]."

8. Fair use

Do not misuse the service: no breaking the law, no attempts to get around usage limits or payments, no automated scraping or bulk requests, and no attempts to break or overload the service or the AI behind it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents it.

9. Your content

What you type into Shut Up & Work stays yours. You allow us to store and process it only to run the service for you, including sending it to our AI model provider as described in the Privacy Policy. You may use the first steps and other answers the app gives you however you like.

10. Changes and availability

We keep improving Shut Up & Work and may change features. We aim to keep it available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. If we change these Terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in advance by email or in the app. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the change applies.

11. Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

12. Ending your account

You can stop using Shut Up & Work at any time and ask us to delete your account by writing to now@shutup.work. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel that with Apple or Google.

13. Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the law of Latvia. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. Otherwise, the courts of Latvia have jurisdiction. If you have a complaint, write to now@shutup.work first and we will try to sort it out. Consumers can also contact the Latvian Consumer Rights Protection Centre (Patērētāju tiesību aizsardzības centrs, www.ptac.gov.lv).

14. Extra terms for the Apple App Store app

If you got the app from Apple's App Store, these points also apply:

  • Your licence to use the app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as allowed by the App Store's Usage Rules.

  • You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Questions or complaints about the app go to us at now@shutup.work.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
